-
Integration of Foot Hand and Ear Reflexology
(the next twelve days - 97 hours) usually scheduled on four, three day weekends - Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We have three day weekends for two primary reasons: so that students who travel long distances have fewer trips to make. More importantly, we have found that the learning process, in later training, goes much deeper when class meetings are at least three days in length. Rarely will the last twelve days of training be on consecutive weekends. There are usually two or more weeks between class meetings. This gives students ample time between class meetings to practice their acquired skills and earn credit towards their practicum hours. Unless otherwise indicated, we observe all major holidays.
- Practicum/Externship Hands-on practice is essential to mastering highly effective Reflexology skills. In addition to all the hands-on practice in class, an additional 25 hours of specific documented (using client forms) hands-on homework are required: feet & hands - 5 one hour sessions each; ears - 5 half hour sessions; integrated foot, hand, ear Reflexology - 10 one hour sessions. Most students complete the required 25 hours of practical homework by the day of the final examination. However, we have created a generous policy that permits the student up to 6 months after the last day of class to turn in all 25 hours of completed documented practicum assignments. For more details of the dates related to this policy, please refer to the Examination section of this Catalog.
Examination
Both a written and practical examination are given to help the student demonstrate their command of both the academic as well as the practical hands-on grasp of the art, science, and technology of highly effective Reflexology skills. The final examination is conducted one - two months after the last day of class. This allows students the opportunity to practice and internalize everything taught during the entire 125 hours of classroom instruction. The examination is conducted twice a year. Students have three opportunities to take and pass all parts of the examination: the first three times the exam is offered following completion of the 125 hours of classroom instruction. This generous policy acknowledges that events in life happen where a student might not be able to make a test date, or that some people need more time to study and practice than others. If the student does not pass the written test because of learning difficulties with the written word, testing can be conducted orally. What we care about most, is that the student, in one way or another, be able to demonstrate having learned appropriate principles, theories, and applicable knowledge as covered in class. Passing score on the written exam is 80%. If a part of the exam is not passed the first time, the student still has the next two times the exam is offered to pass that portion of the test. Please be assured that most students pass the exam the first time.
Certificate
All students take the 150 Hour Integrated Foot Hand Ear Reflexology Professional Certificate Course to be able to do exceptionally high quality work on themselves, as well as on their families and friends. Some, also take the full course because they either want to do Reflexology part time, full time, or incorporate it into some other profession to help them get even better results. Regardless of the reason for going through the 150 Hour Integrated Foot Hand Ear Reflexology Professional Certificate Course, everyone is encouraged to complete all classroom instruction, practicum, and take the final examination, thereby earning a very well deserved 150 Hour Certificate.
Learning Through Study Groups
Although not required, all students are strongly encouraged to get together with study groups from the general geographic area where they live or work. The main benefits of study groups are: 1) working on someone, between class meetings, who can give the type of feedback that only someone else from class can give; 2) getting Reflexology on yourself between classes, so you can personally experience the deeper benefits for regular, on-going Reflexology sessions; 3) moral support and encouragement; 4) a support group to help you, between class meetings, to think through specific situations experienced with Reflexology; 5) support in studying the academic aspects of the course: 6) develop a camaraderie that, for many graduates, has lasted years after completing the course. Students who actively participate in study groups, almost always score highly on their final examinations.
You will learn an entire new body of knowledge
that is called the "Flocco Method-Integrating Foot Hand Ear Reflexology." This method of Reflexology has been developed since 1981, has been taught on four Continents: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, and across America. The Flocco Method is the only method of Reflexology to be validated in published scientific literature, through a randomized controlled peer review study conducted at the Academy and reported in the highly prestigious medical research journal, "Obstetrics & Gynecology," Dec. 1993.
